You Are – Lionel Richie (1982)

Song Archive

This track is off of Lionel Richie’s debut solo album. This album came right after he left the band “The Commodores.” It’s such a fun song with almost a complete symphony behind him deep in the mix. According to the credits on the record, he has strings, brass, saxophones, and even a harp. Put that in with a kicking rhythm section and you get this happy love song.

Listen for the electric guitar single note intro. Also I LOVE the way he says “I don’t mind and I don’t mind” during the verse. If you can, try to listen to this while driving with the windows down somewhere. Once the chorus hits you can’t stop smiling for the remainder of the song. Enjoy!

You are the sun
